Safety and Security

Staying safe when buying or selling whisky online

Most transactions on WannaWhisky take place between users who never meet in person. Applying common-sense safety habits is important whether you are buying or selling.

1. Keep all communication within WannaWhisky

Avoid moving conversations to private email, messaging apps, or social media. Staying within the platform allows:

  • Better documentation
  • Easier dispute resolution
  • Reduced exposure to impersonation or phishing attempts

2. Be cautious with unusual requests

Requests that should raise suspicion include:

  • Offers to complete payment outside the platform

  • Requests to ship before payment

  • Pressure to make rushed decisions

If something feels suspicious, stop and contact WannaWhisky support.

3. Use Buyer Protection

Our escrow service helps protect both parties:

  • Buyers are only charged when a seller accepts their offer.
  • Sellers ship only after WannaWhisky confirms payment.
  • Funds remain securely held until the buyer confirms safe delivery.

This reduces risk, but it does not eliminate all risk. Both buyers and sellers must remain attentive and responsible.

4. Inspect listings carefully

Review photos, descriptions, and pricing. Check for inconsistencies or signs of tampering. When in doubt, ask for clarifications.

5. Protect your personal information

Share only the information needed to complete the transaction:

  • Shipping address
  • Legal name (for delivery)

Do not disclose extra personal details if not strictly necessary. WannaWhisky takes various measures to ensure your personal data cannot be accidentally shared or leaked. However, you must still exercise caution in what you choose to share with other people.

6. Let us know when something feels wrong

If you feel uncomfortable, encounter suspicious behavior, or simply have doubts, reach out to WannaWhisky. Every listing has a ‘Report Listing’ button. We can review the situation and advise on next steps.

Your safety matters. Staying alert and informed makes every transaction more secure.
